Stars size up the crown

By DAVID NAGEL

A PLETHORA of proven stars will be out to steal the crown from Beaconsfield ruckman Scott Meyer when the Norm Walker Medal is awarded at Monday night’s CCFL awards ceremony at the Sandhurst Club.
Meyer, who combines a magnificent leap with uncanny ground skills, will start a warm favourite to add a second medal to his collection after another stellar season.
His main competition may come from within, with his Beaconsfield skipper Daniel Mislicki sure to poll well after another consistent performance through the midfield.
Narre Warren stars Michael Collins, Dylan Quirk, Josh Tonna, Jackson Parker, Col McNamara and Kerem Baskaya are also sure to be prominent, but will steal votes from each other, while Berwick skipper Madi Andrews, Tooradin’s Matt Wade and Pakenham’s Dom Paynter are also live chances.
Cranbourne half forward Michael Theodoridis and ruckman Michael Boland have also been significant contributors to the Eagles’ season and could surprise.
