Scouts conducting ‘human auction’

By CASEY NEILL

LAKESIDE Scout Group is hosting an auction with a difference to raise funds – a human auction.
The group is holding its first annual trivia event next month, and people will be up for grabs.
Each auctionee will offer two hours of their time to complete a service they’ve nominated – from lawn mowing to car detailing, babysitting, cleaning, ironing and mending.
The Scouts are looking for anyone willing to donate their time and attend the 9 August event to be auctioned live on stage.
Linda Browne will be hosting the live auction and will talk up the people on offer.
“Think about it – 10 people offer, an opening bid of $25, that’s a $250 profit at starting bid,” she said.
Text Ms Browne on 0429 570 177 or email lindabrowne@iprimus.com.au to get involved.
The night will also include fun and challenging trivia questions, games, a silent auction and a raffle.
Lakeside Scout Group started in May last year and is the newest in the Cardinia District.
It runs youth programs from the Pakenham Lakeside Primary School gym.
There are groups for Joeys (6 to 7-year-olds), Cubs (8 to 10-year-olds) and Scouts (10 to 14-year-olds).
Venturers (14 to 17-year-olds) and Rovers (18 to 25-year-olds) are being linked with other groups in the district until Lakeside has enough members to run the sections.
The trivia night will be held at 7pm for a 7.30pm start on Saturday 9 August in the Pakenham Springs Primary School gym, corner Heritage and Livingstone boulevards, Pakenham.
Tickets are $10 per head and available from Simone on 0402 292 315 or simone_wade@hotmail.com.
