CARDINIA’S local gridiron side, the Pakenham Silverbacks, travelled to Ballarat on the weekend for the second time already this season – this time to tackle the Falcons on Saturday morning.
After a tight, scoreless, first quarter, the Silverbacks were put on the board by an impressive strip in the end zone from linebacker Adam Kolinski, giving them a 6-0 lead at the half.
Some brilliant Pakenham defence managed to slow down Ballarat but the Falcons capitalised on mistakes from the Silverbacks’ offense – running in two second half touchdowns to win 15-6.
The Silverbacks, currently third in Division 2, have an excellent opportunity to add to their win column this week as they face off against bottom side, the Melbourne Uni Lions, at Brens Oval in Royal Park, Parkville this Sunday from 1pm.
