Giving back to the community

Rosemary has volunteered at the Brotherhood of St Laurence’s Pakenham Op Shop for almost 20 years.
Having lived in the area for 29 years, Rosemary was keen to give back and stay connected with her community.
After 18 years of volunteering, Rosemary still believes it’s a great way to meet new people.
“Whether it is meeting new volunteers or customers – it is a lovely way to get to know the locals,” she said.
Rosemary’s favourite memory, apart from her daily interactions at the store, is attending the Brotherhood’s 80th birthday event in the city.
“We were all treated to a lovely meal and given a copy of the Brotherhood’s book, Stories of Courage and Resilience,” she said.
Reading this book further cemented her love for volunteering as well as reminded her of how it contributes to the Brotherhood’s mission for an Australia free of poverty. Details: www.brotherhoodstores.com
