Knowledge blooms on rare plants

FLORA enthusiasts can learn all about rare Victorian plants at a full day workshop at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Cranbourne, next month.
The Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne is hosting the Rare Victorian Plants, What and Why workshop on Sunday 22 June.
The event will feature a range of experienced presenters who will talk on different topics.
The all-day workshop will provide attendees with up-to-date information on the status of Victoria’s rare plants.
Topics to be discussed will include Victorian Vegetation from before European settlement until today, what makes a plant rare and why plants become rare, propagating rare plants for revegetation projects and cultivating Victoria’s rare plants.
There will also be a hands-on propagation session, sowing seed of rare species and preparing cuttings.
The workshop will take place on Sunday 22 June from 9.15am until 3.30pm at the Australian Garden Auditorium, Royal Botanic Gardens, Cranbourne.
Cost is $60 for Friends RBG Cranbourne members or $75 for non-members.
