HUNDREDS of people are expected to flock to the 30th annual Bird Sale and Expo in Skye this weekend.
Hosted by the Mornington Peninsula Aviculture Society, the popular event features everything anyone could need and want to know about birds.
There will be a vast range of trader exhibits including cages, foods and bird accessories available for people to view and purchase from 9.30am.
There will also be bird exhibit aviaries, face painting for children and vets providing surgical sexing and micro-chipping.
Members of the public have the opportunity to purchase birds and get advice from more than 100 bird breeders and exhibitors from around Australia.
They can also meet with experienced breeders at the club’s stand who can provide advice on bird keeping and breeding, as well as discuss the benefits of joining a club.
There will be a vast variety of birds available to view and purchase from the common breeds such as budgerigars and canaries, as well as parrots, finches, doves and quail right through to some exotic species.
The Victorian Zebra Finch Society will also be staging its annual show and exhibition on the day with more than 20 different varieties of zebra finch on display.
The Bird Sale and Expo will be held at the State Dog Centre, 655 Westernport Highway, Skye, this Sunday, 25 May.
The event will open at 9.30am, with the bird sale kicking off about 11am.
Admission is $2 and children under eight are free.
Refreshments will be available.
Organisers said it was important to be aware that the event is run under a strict code of practice.
