Healthy culture nurtured

By BRIDGET SCOTT

AROUND 70 business men and women from the Cardinia Shire came together last Tuesday to plan ways to make their workplaces healthier.
On Tuesday 13 May, a health and wellbeing forum was hosted at the Cardinia Cultural Centre by the Healthy Together team at Cardinia Shire.
This was an opportunity for workplaces and education settings to learn about how they can build a positive culture within their workplace.
Partnerships and Engagement officer from Cardinia Shire Freya Brown said the forum was part of the Achievement Program which the team had introduced.
The Achievement Program is another initiative of the Healthy Together team that supports early childhood education and care services, schools and workplaces to help create healthy environments for learning, working and living.
“The forum is being held as a professional development opportunity,” Ms Brown said.
“To connect with each other to build partnerships, and learn more about how to implement the Achievement Program in their setting.”
Everyone who attended the forum has committed themselves or their workplace to the achievement program.
Cardinia Shire mayor Graeme Moore opened the forum before a panel of speakers addressed the group.
Healthy Together Victoria ambassador Wayne Kayler-Thomson and Think Quick director Frank Connelly were guest speakers, and presented on the benefits of a positive health culture in a setting, systems of thinking and change management.
The group also split off into two workshops where they discussed relevant components of the program.
Following question time, Cardinia chief executive officer Garry McQuillan closed the forum.
This initiative is jointly funded by the State Government of Victoria and the Australia Government.
