Teen smash

By BRIDGET COOK

ONE teenager was left fighting for his life and another was seriously injured after an allegedly stolen car was wrapped around a tree in Lynbrook on Monday.
Police believe the teenage male driver, 15, was travelling north along Sun Valley Boulevard when he lost control of the car and crashed into a tree about 3.30am.
The driver, from Tynong, was taken to The Alfred with serious injuries.
His passenger, a 14-year-old boy from Lynbrook, was airlifted to The Alfred with critical injuries.
Sergeant Adam Ferguson said a police unit in the area at the time found the crash and phoned paramedics.
He said two cars were allegedly stolen from Tynong that night, one of which was involved in the crash.
“Eight minutes before the collision, the other alleged stolen car was involved in a short pursuit with police,” he said.
“That pursuit was terminated.
“Police in the area then saw the other car and were preparing to intercept it, when they found the car already involved in the collision.
“The other car involved was later found at the Narre Warren Railway Station abandoned.”
Sgt Ferguson said the Major Collision Investigation Group was still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“Investigations are still ongoing, as we haven’t even been able to speak to the boys yet,” he said.
“Once we can do that then we look at where we go next.”
Anyone with any information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
