City comes alive to young vibe

By BRIDGET COOK

LOCAL youth were in the spotlight last week during a number of National Youth Week celebrations across the city.
Between Friday 4 and Sunday 13 April, the city came alive with a range of events to celebrate young people and the contribution they make to the community.
Events in Casey included the Fringe Fest live music event, amazing race competition and the Rock ‘n’ Skate Festival.
One of the biggest events of the week was Destination Wellbeing, held at Casey Fields on the Wednesday 9 April.
While the weather kept crowd numbers down, plenty still turned out to the event which aimed to raise awareness about the challenges facing young people.
There were activities and stalls from a variety of local organisations including the council’s youth services team, South East Alcohol and Drug Service, Cricket Victoria, Cranbourne Little Athletics, Melbourne Stars and the Disability Sport and Recreation’s WheelTalk School Awareness Program.
News photographer ROB CAREW was there to capture all the action on camera.
