Breaming with Joy

LANDING some good sized bream made the long trip worthwhile for anglers last month.
Pakenham Angling Club members travelled to Bemm River for a two-day bream competition on 22-23 March, experiencing good weather and more importantly… good fishing.
For the Saturday competition Stan Blackwood made a clean sweep with the heaviest bream of 773 grams, also second heaviest and secret weight.
Well done, Stan! He did however share the prize for secret weight with Janet Pursell.
On the Sunday, Stan Blackwood was on the money again, taking out heaviest fish with 723 grams of fighting muscle. Geoff Taylor won second heaviest and secret weight went to Geoff Pursell.
When the competition was over on Sunday afternoon Geoff Taylor continued to cast a line from the fishing platform near the boat ramp at Bemm River. He was rewarded with a great bream that was bigger than any caught previously over the weekend. Excellent – if not timely – fishing from Geoff!
Interested anglers are welcome to attend the next meeting of the club at 7.30pm on Wednesday, 16 April at Pakenham Senior Citizens’ rooms, James Street, Pakenham.
For further information contact Dean on 0409 804 766.
