Excitement switch on

By BRIDGET SCOTT

The Cardinia Cultural Centre will be a buzz of excitement and electricity when the Sustainability Expo hits town with organisers hoping to generate a big crowd.
Visitors will have the chance to get on a bike and help the planet, with the Future Spark and Bike n’ Blend activities expected to be a hit.
The Future Spark competition will see people pedalling fast in an attempt to generate the most electricity by cycling the quickest.
Entries for this are open to friends, family members, clubs or businesses which can put forward a team to jump on the bike.
Winners will share in a $1000 pool of fantastic earth-friendly and healthy prizes.
Residents can also use pedal power to blend their own smoothies on the Bike n’ Blend after which riders can take their empty biodegradable smoothie cup to the community garden stand for free vegetables seeds available to plant at home.
Cardinia Shire residents are also encouraged to walk, ride their bike or make their way to the event via public transport if they can, all in the name of sustainability.
Visitors can ride their bike to the event for the chance to win a spot prize.
For more event information or to enter the Future Spark competition, visit www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/sustainabilityexpo or contact the council’s environment team on 1300 787 624 ormail@cardinia.vic.gov.au.
