A SECLUDED laneway off Pakenham Road is a prime target for illegal dumpers.
Meryl Waterhouse lives on the road and contacted Cardinia Shire Council last week to alert the council about the piles of green waste.
“There’s a truck load of green waste,” she said.
“This is not the first time this has happened, it is a continual thing.”
Ms Waterhouse said it was “quite dangerous” as the laneway was blocked by the rubbish.
In the past, she has spotted cow carcusses, sheep remains and a butchered sheep before Christmas.
The council’s Operations Team leader Mark Howard said council officers inspected a known illegal dumping site on Monday and removed dumped green waste.
“Any type of illegal dumping, including green waste, is a criminal offence,” he said.
“Council asks residents to keep an eye out for illegal dumping and report any incidents to the council.
“Information such as vehicle registration details, the incident date and time and a description of the people involved can help us to catch the perpetrators.”
Mr Howard said the council provided a number of ways for residents to dispose of or recycle green waste, including:
Fortnightly kerbside bin collection for green waste is available in the urban areas of Cardinia Shire.
Two green and hard waste kerbside collections each year. One collection is held during May and June, and the second in November to December, each running over five weeks.
And the council offers a $30 rebate to residents who purchase a new compost bin to dispose of food and garden waste
He said four privately owned facilities in the local area also accepted green waste including Cardinia Waste and Recycling Centre, SITA Hampton Park, TPI Lysterfield and TPI Tyabb.
Last week, the Pakenham-Gazette reported on a number of illegal dumping sites in the shire including in Cardinia and Nar Nar Goon.
Ms Waterhouse said there was often television sets and other items discarded in the laneway.
