AN animal petting farm and storytellers from the Casey-Cardinia libraries will be among the attractions at the relaunch of the Family Connections supported playgroup at Pakenham Uniting Church on 11 February from 10am to 12.30pm.
The playgroup, which is a joint venture between Connenctions and Pakenham Uniting Church, will then meet each Tuesday during the school term from 11am to 12.30pm at a cost of a gold coin donation and a piece of fruit to share.
The playgroup, relaunched with the support of the Cardinia Shire Council through a supported playgroups and parent group initiative grant, is open to families of children aged five and under.
Tuesday’s launch event will include the animal petting farm and storytellers along with games and activities, healthy snacks, food demonstrations and the PlayStart van.
Council’s Family Connections Officer Elissa Sewell said playgroups provided an opportunity to bring young families in the shire together.
“Playgroups are a great way for families to meet other children and parents in a safe, fun and engaging environment,” Ms Sewell said.
“They provide opportunities for kids to learn through play and develop friendships for the whole family.”
The Family Connections supported playgroup will be funded by the Pakenham Uniting Church with Connections co-ordinating the playgroup and supporting participating families.
The council runs or supports a range of community and supported playgroups for families with children aged five and under.
