Serving up a blitz

PAKENHAM Regional Tennis Centre (PRTC) will host a huge Summer of Tennis over the
coming holiday period, with activities and events for all to celebrate the 2014
Australian Open.
The festival of tennis will start on 11 December with the AO Blitz – the largest
participation drive in Australian tennis history – and culminate with a huge Open Day
at the Pakenham Tennis Centre on 2 February.
Centre Manager Dan Salvato said there were events and activities planned
throughout the school holiday period and invited the whole community to get
involved.
“We want to encourage everyone to come down and have a hit at their local centre,”
he said.
“The facilities here are top class, the surface is international standard and
it’s right on the doorstep of the Cardinia community.”
“It’s not expensive and we want to provide the opportunity for all to get into tennis
while interest is high during the Australian Open and across the warmer months.”
The AO Blitz will feature a free community tennis day on 11 December with locals
given the chance to participate in a range of tennis activities including; photo opportunities with the Australian Open trophies, MLC Tennis Hot Shots – modified tennis designed especially for children, Cardio Tennis – new tennis fitness workout, Speed Servealong with giveaways.
Other highlights across the summer will include; the launch of a new Friday social night ‘$4 Fridays’ – as much tennis as you can play in a social atmosphere, Medibank Junior Development Series tournament – 15-17 January, an Australian Open celebration participation competition in December – leading up to the Open.
Play as much tennis as possible over the length of the competition with a double pass to the Australian Open as the prize.
There will also be the annual Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre Open Day on 2 February with activities yet to be announced.
PRTC will also hold a special ‘Buy 6-months and get 6-months free’ membership
promotion open to all during the Summer of Tennis.
