THE Casey community is being urged to celebrate and capture the area’s diversity by entering in the photo competition.
The Balla Balla Community Centre is holding a photography competition and exhibition over the next couple of months and is calling in the community to enter.
The theme of the competition is Celebrate Diversity and Culture in Casey and people are being urged to submit a photo on the subject which will then be featured in an exhibition.
Organiser Vanessa Santvoort urged people the send their entries in.
“The City of Casey has one of Australia’s fastest growing population with more than 150 languages spoken, more than 100 faiths celebrated, with people of all abilities represented,” she said.
“Use your camera lens to capture the moment and celebrate the rich and diverse community that is Casey – the people, the place, the activity within the community, the talent, the sports and the schools.
“Get clicking, experiment and be artistic.”
The competition has four categories – junior, intermediate, open and senior.
There are a number of prizes up for grabs including cash and other goods.
Winners will be announced at the Passport to Casey’s Cultural Heritage Showcase Australia Day event on Sunday 26 January.
An exhibition of all photographs will then run from that day until 28 March.
Entries will be open until 13 January.
