THE Pakenham Oaks Day marked the end of an era this year, when more than 3000 people turned out for the last Oaks to be held at the Pakenham Racecourse. Flocks of fashionable fillies frocked up for ladies’ day this year, with some backing a winner while others strutted their stuff on the catwalk in the always popular Fashions on the Fields.
The men didn’t let the women steal all the glory of the day, with some suited up lads trying their hand at the males section of the fashions.
Hayley Conn from the Pakenham Racing Club said organisers of the Pakenham race day were thrilled with how the event went.
“We were very happy with the success of the day and it was a great day for the club,” she said.
