A CONTAINER used by the Cardinia Men’s Shed was graffitied for the second time in a month on the weekend.
Dennis Jones from the Men’s Shed said the container at the back of Living Learning in Henry Street Pakenham near the garden was tagged when he came in on Monday morning.
The container is mainly used as a small workshop for the men from the group.
“The boys had painted and used it as a workshop,” he said.
“This is the second time this has happened.”
The taggers had used spray cans to deface the container and written their names.
Mr Jones said it was disappointing for the men’s shed members after they had put work into painting the workshop.
“The boys get a bit disheartened when that happens,” he said.
“It hasn’t been there that long, it was probably about a month ago that we reported it to the police the first time.”
Mr Jones said the Men’s Shed was looking to expand and was keen to build a shed alongside the Living Learning Centre.
He said they had been given permission to do so through funding made available through the State Government.
“We put in an application, we have the blessing from the shire and councillors and also the Pakenham Rotary Club can help too.”
Cardinia Shire mayor Brett Owen said the council encouraged residents to take photos and report the matter to the police to help to identify the offender.
“The sooner graffiti is removed, the easier it is to clean off, and discourage repeat attacks,” he said.
“Graffiti vandalism is an anti-social behaviour; it is illegal and won’t be tolerated.
“Graffiti is a shared problem – take action and be part of the solution.”
Cr Owen encouraged anyone who saw graffiti to download the council’s free app and report graffiti damage.
