Party at My Place

A FIRST birthday is always a big celebration and the milestone for My Place was no different.
Cardinia Shire’s youth facility in Pakenham celebrated its first year helping, entertaining and supporting young people last Friday.
Guests were treated to a free barbecue, a range of fun games and activities and great music as well as the council’s mobile youth facility, MyBus.
Central Ward councillor Jodie Owen and member of the Youth Strategy Reference Group said the council hopes to see many young local faces at the gathering.
“My Place was named by a member of the community, which is appropriate, because young people in Cardinia Shire have really embraced this facility as their own,” Cr Owen said.
“It’s a busy and vibrant hub for Cardinia Shire’s young people.”
Cardinia Shire Mayor Brett Owen said the celebration was a great opportunity to reflect on the considerable achievements of My Place in its first year. “Since it opened, My Place has successfully and closely worked with local youth agencies to intervene early for young people with problems and refer them on to support their complex needs” Cr Owen said.
“This wonderful facility gives Cardinia Shire’s young people a voice and helps them to live happier and more fulfilled lives.”
