TOUGH conditions didn’t deter young players from Pakenham Hills Primary School in the Southern Metropolitan Zone Championships.
Last term, Pakenham Hills football team competed in the Pakenham District inter school sports competition.
They played against Pakenham Consolidated, Pakenham Lakeside, Pakenham Springs, Beaconsfield and Beaconhills schools and were undefeated.
This competition culminated in a Pakenham District Zone Sports Day – a round robin among all the teams.
Pakenham Hills won every game and was presented with a Pakenham District Championship Flag.
The players progressed to the next level, which was to play against the Officer Division Winner Chairo Christian College.
Pakenham Hills won that game to become Cardinia District Champions.
Pakenham Hills travelled to Highett to compete in the Southern Metropolitan Zone Championships.
After a tough, wet, windy day of competition, they finished the day in the top seven out of 364 primary schools in the region.
Coach Kerri Noy said the school was extremely proud of the boys and girls and their efforts.
“They worked well as a team and displayed outstanding sportsmanship throughout all levels of competition,” she said.
“A great achievement to get this far.”
Co-captain Daniel said it was a great experience to get this far and they all really enjoyed playing for their school.
