A POSITIVE partnership has flared between a local supermarket and charity.
Lakeside Coles has thrown its ongoing support behind the 4Cs Crisis Relief Centre.
Last Friday, the managers of the store made a visit to the Pakenham centre to volunteer for a few hours and to see how the operation was run.
Deb Porter, 4Cs centre manager, gave them a tour before they cleaned, stocked shelves and packed frozen food.
Store manager Frank Crisara said it was important for the store and its staff to give back to the community.
“It puts life in perspective when you go to 4Cs and see what they do,” he said.
“What an organisation. Without 4Cs, you would be looking at 400 families in need and where do they go?”
Mr Crisara said after always asking customers to come in and spend, it was time for the store and staff to give something back.
Staff will offer their hands and time to volunteer when possible and would also raise money to donate.
“Whenever we can, we’ll make time to go and help. We also want to hold barbecues and whatever money we raise we will donate to 4Cs,” he said.
“They get a lot of good support with donations for goods but what is lacking is funds. What an opportunity to give something back to the community.”
Ms Porter said the centre appreciated their good hearts and support.
