Centre draws stars

By BRIDGET SCOTT

A CAST of thousands turned out to Lyndhurst on Saturday to catch a glimpse of past and present champions.
Current and former AFL stars turned up to the new Marriott Waters Shopping Centre for footy day Saturday to celebrate more than one occasion.
The players not only attended to celebrate the recent opening of the new shopping centre but to also celebrate the newly formed Lynbrook Football Club.
A big crowd gathered to get photos and autographs from Hawthorn star Josh Gibson and Collingwood Magpie Alex Fasulo.
The President of the Lynbrook Football Club was also present on the day, as well as councillor and former AFL player Geoff Ablett, and former Hawthorn Football Club member Ben Dixon, who was the compere on the day.
The Lynbrook Football Club currently only has a junior side but is hoping to form senior teams in the near future.
Cr Ablett said it was great to get such a big crowd to the event on Saturday.
“It was fantastic to see so many happy people being photographed with players,” he said.
“Council is very supportive of this fantastic shopping centre.”
Mr Ablett said he has high hopes for the future of the new football club.
“With council’s help, Lynbrook will play at the Marriott Waters Sporting Complex from April next year,” said Cr Ablett.
If anyone would like to be part of the club, they are urged to contact Matt Blake on 0419 359 880, or email president@lynbrookfootballclub.com.au.
