SCOUTING superstar Adele Mepstead was honoured with a Community Service and Volunteering Award as part of the Victorian Young Achiever Awards.
At a recent council meeting on 15 July, Adele was congratulated by Cardinia Shire mayor Brett Owen and the councillors on her achievement.
The awards are presented to young people to recognise and encourage their contribution to the community and promote their positive achievements.
Pakenham Boarding Cattery owner Phyllis Bould nominated Adele.
“I have known her all her life and I have watched her develop into a responsible young adult,” she said.
“I was a Guide leader for 16 years and when Adele joined, she was always so helpful and joined in everything.
“We have watched with interest her journey through Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and her schooling career.”
Ms Bould said she was impressed with Adele’s push for other young people to strive to achieve their best as well as her organisational skills.
Adele has worked at the Pakenham Show among many other groups.
“Adele has gained and maintained a constructive place in our society,” Ms Bould said.
“Her enthusiasm for the community is evident as you can see Adele is a very busy young woman and also keeps up with her very busy family, including her five nieces and five nephews.”
