Tammy’s speech is in the swim

By BRIDGET SCOTT

IN AN awe-inspiring speech, Tammy Van Wisse left a room full of business owners lost for words last Wednesday night.
The Narre Warren Business Group held its annual general meeting at Kilgarren Homestead in Narre Warren South, where it played host to an inspirational guest speaker.
Marathon swimmer Tammy Van Wisse spoke to the group about her career as a swimmer, and related the challenges she faced to those business owners faced in their own industry.
Prior to this, City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon initiated the formal proceedings for the evening, which involved nominating the new committee.
Ross Neilson was made president of the group again, while Richard Edwards took the position of treasurer and the role of secretary was left vacant.
Cr Stapledon also took the opportunity to discuss the work the City of Casey was doing to create business within the community.
This includes the new Casey Cultural Civic Precinct which is due to start construction in 2015.
Cr Stapledon also discussed the Casey Business Awards which she announced to the group would become a partnership with the Cardinia Shire Business Awards, as of next year.
This means the awards will become the Casey-Cardinia Business Awards.
The mayor said she ‘recognises the challenges faced by local businesses’ but is excited about the direction the local economy was headed in.
After this, local business owners were given the opportunity to share where they were from – some of the businesses include financial planning, accountants, hotels and voice professionals.
