A RARE exhibition will be on display at the Civic Centre Art Space next month.
The City of Casey is proud to present the ’Art of Pencil’ – a new exhibit by Janet Matthews and her students.
The collection explores the use of graphite and colour pencils in creating appealing illustrations that capture the beauty of Australian birds and animals.
City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon encourages everyone who can to visit the exhibition.
“Janet Matthews is a very talented artist who has won acclaim for her much-loved and highly sought after pencil drawings,” Cr Stapledon said.
“The magnificent drawings on display are a collection of Janet’s artwork, and the work of her students, and show the range of subjects and styles that Janet has nurtured over the last year.”
Cr Stapledon described the exhibition as ’a wonderful opportunity for residents to view a collection of unique creations sketched by our very own Casey residents.’
The City of Casey is also inviting contemporary artists to participate in an exciting exhibition taking place at the Civic Centre Art Space in October and November.
Cr Stapledon encouraged the local community to get involved in this initiative.
Applications for the Casey Contemporary Artists’ showcase will be entertained from 1 July until 1 August.
The Civic Centre Art Space is located at the City of Casey council offices in Narre Warren, and is open Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm.
Entry is free and most artworks are available to purchase.
