OPERA for kids is coming to the Drum Theatre this school holidays.
Oz Opera is touring a one-hour adapted version of The Barber of Seville aimed at children aged four to 12 years old.
More than 500,000 children in primary schools across Australia have seen the production and its now on its way to the south-east for one special show for school holiday audiences.
Rossini’s The Barber of Seville features secret letters, cunning disguises and all sorts of confusion.
The story follows a serious case of love at first sight, which presents itself as a big problem for Count Almaviva.
Enter the resourceful barber named Figaro, who cleverly solves everyone’s problems – for a price.
The Drum Theatre will provide free art activities for audiences an hour before and after the performance.
It’s on the corner of Lonsdale and Walker streets in Dandenong, and free parking is available with all school holiday show tickets.
The Barber of Seville hits the stage at 11am on Friday 5 July and runs for 60 minutes with no interval.
Tickets are $16 for adults, $13.50 for Drum members and $55 for families or groups of four.
They’re available from the Drum Theatre box office on 8571 1666 or www.drumtheatre.com.au.
