Nurturing young talent

YOUNG talented people across Casey are encouraged to apply for a grant which could help them chase their dreams.
Brittany Leo, a young singer who has signed with US record label Musik and Film to promote her music globally, met with Holt MP Anthony Byrne this week to promote the Creative Young Stars program.
The Australian Government’s $8 million Creative Young Stars program is a feature of Creative Australia, the Australian Government’s national cultural policy.
It will invest $23,500 per financial year in Holt, and the first funding round will close on 21 June. The program will deliver grants of $500 for individuals and $3000 for groups of six or more in Holt. The program will provide funding for successful applicants, aged 25 and under.
Mr Byrne encouraged Brittany and other young people to submit applications. Mr Byrne said the program enabled him to help young Australians reach their potential in all walks of life including school, finding a job, or in areas such as the arts, community service and leadership, or academia.
“Our local community has incredibly talented young people like Brittany Leo, who make a fantastic contribution to our community particularly once they get the chance to develop those talents further,” Mr Byrne said.
“But in some cases, their families find it difficult to meet the extra costs associated with participating in activities, events and training.”
These grants will help young people further develop their creative talents by helping them take part in competitions, eisteddfods, public speaking tournaments and other cultural, artistic or academic events.
“I strongly encourage students and young people, their parents and carers in Holt to apply for a Creative Young Stars grant to help them chase their dreams,” Mr Byrne said.
In Round 1, the program will deliver grants to 12 individuals and two groups in each of the 150 Federal Electorates across Australia.
