Doo good and bag it

REMEMBER to clean up after your furry friends.
This is the message City of Casey Council is urging its residents to remember.
The council asks residents to be mindful of the waste their pets leave behind, and to pick up after them.
According to the council, pet waste has been found littering nature strips, walking tracks, reserves and is posing harm in public areas.
City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon said everyone was welcome to use these areas, but must remember to clean away and consider others visiting after them.
“I encourage all residents to carry a receptacle such as a bag for removal of pet waste when walking their dog within the City of Casey as it is an offence to leave waste in a public place,” she said.
“Adhering to local laws is each pet owner’s responsibility, and those who do not comply will be served with infringements by local laws officers, who regularly patrol reserves within Casey.”
Residents caught breaking this law will incur a $200, on-the-spot fine.
“It is important that we are considerate of our fellow residents when utilising Casey’s many pathways and reserves to ensure a clean and tidy city that we all can enjoy,” Cr Stapledon said.
For information regarding responsible pet ownership and animal laws, or to make a complaint regarding animal waste, visit www.casey.vic.gov.au/pets or contact the City of Casey on 9705 5200.
