Chartering course of pets

CASEY residents can have their say on animal-related issues that affect the community.
The City of Casey has developed the Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2013-2016 that has outlined the strategic direction for animal management within Casey for the next four years.
City of Casey mayor Amanda Stapledon said the strategy aimed to meet community needs and ensure the requirements of the Domestic Animals Acts 1994 were met.
“With more than 29,000 dogs and 8000 cats registered in the City of Casey, there is a need for council to seek feedback on the issues affecting pet owners and their pets,” Cr Stapleson said.
“Council is also hoping to hear from people who aren’t currently pet owners regarding their interactions with pets and their owners, and their impact on our community.”
Feedback collected from a survey undertaken late last year and this additional community consultation will help the council build a greater understanding of the issues and experiences that are important to residents living in Casey.
The Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan can be downloaded from council’s website and hard copies are available by visiting council’s Customer Service Centres or by contacting council on 9705 5200.
Submissions on the Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan should be made in writing and must include your name and address, and addressed to the Chief
Executive Officer: via mail: City of Casey, PO Box 1000, Narre Warren 3805; or via email: caseycc@casey.vic.gov.au.
Written submissions must be received by the council no later than 14 June 2013.
