Volunteer reception

LOCAL volunteers were treated to a reception and dinner last week in honour of National Volunteer Week.
Almost 250 volunteers gather last Thursday for the Mayor’s Volunteer Reception Dinner at the Cardinia Cultural Centre.
Mayor Brett Owen said the dinner was a chance for the council to thank volunteers from organisations which operate in Cardinia Shire or help its residents.
“On behalf of everyone in Cardinia Shire, thank you for making sacrifices in your own lives so that other people’s lives can be better,” Cr Owen said.
“Every one of you thoroughly deserves this opportunity to enjoy one another’s company and congratulate yourselves for what you do for our community.
“You are an inspiring and selfless group of people.”
Patsy Parnall, a Lieutenant with the Country Fire Authority (CFA) in Cockatoo and Sue Noble, CEO of Volunteering Victoria were guest speakers.
