Thankless service appreciated

THE City of Casey will say ‘thanks a million’ this week to the hundreds of locals who dedicate their time to helping others.
The council will join thousands of organisations around the nation for National Volunteer Week this week to celebrate the contribution of volunteers.
The council will host the Casey Volunteer Awards on Friday night where awards will be presented to individuals, community groups, organisations and businesses that contribute to the community through volunteering.
The week is Australia’s largest celebration of volunteers and this year’s theme is ’Thanks a Million’.
City of Casey mayor Amanda Stapledon said hundreds of local volunteers regularly gave their time and energy to assist others in the community.
“I am thankful to each and every one of Casey’s volunteers who give something back to our community through the donation of their time, skills and experience,” she said.
“In Casey, there are volunteer opportunities to suit everyone that tap into their skills, qualifications, experience or knowledge.
“Council supports, promotes and develops volunteering in Casey through the training, promotion and recognition of local volunteers and volunteer organisations.”
Residents seeking local volunteer opportunities are encouraged to visit the Casey Volunteer Matcher at www.casey.vic.gov.au/volunteermatcher.
