NOT-for-profit organisations can apply for grants to support health promotions and prevention projects.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne met with Anne Peek, CEO of the South Eastern Medicare Local (SEMML) last week to hear about the SEMML Small Grants Program which will allow eligible organisations to apply for a grant of up to $22,000 for one year to support community-based health promotion and prevention projects.
Ms Peek said that a key role for SEMML was to develop locally focused and response services across priority areas such as mental health, early childhood development, chronic disease prevention, chronic disease management, family violence and oral health.
“We see this initiative as a way to support and acknowledge the significant contribution made by local community groups in improving the health of our community,” she said.
SEMML has established a Small Grants Program to support community-based health promotion and prevention projects within Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia.
“We are looking for eligible not-for-profit organisations to utilise the grants for community projects which are innovative, well researched, have an ongoing benefit for the community’s health and target our disadvantaged community,” Ms Peek said.
