THE Cranbourne-Narre Relay For Life will be launched at a girls night out at the Cranbourne Harness Racing Club next week.
Cancer Council Victoria invites all Casey residents to the girls night out where they can learn about the latest developments from Cancer Council Victoria in fighting back against cancer, cancer prevention and support services available and how you can support this year’s Relay For Life event.
The Cranbourne Harness Racing Club is hosting the event on Saturday 18 May and Aussie action girl and Bollywood star Tania Zaetta will be the celebrity guest.
The night will be jam packed with shopping, catwalk shows, tarot readings, a fascinator and hat competition and live entertainment.
With a five-course meal included and the thrill of night harness racing, girls are in for a great night out.
The Cranbourne-Narre Relay For Life event began last year with teams of 10 or more taking turns to walk through the night, relay style, to raise funds and awareness to help fight cancer.
The event raised $43,000, helping to provide the much-needed support to the 885 locals diagnosed with cancer in Casey during 2012.
Cranbourne-Narre Relay For Life volunteer committee chair manager Nicole Ryan said this year the event would be bigger and better than last year, with a bigger committee already busily planning activities and entertainment and a special function for survivors and carers to attend on the day of the event.
“Relay For Life is a chance for us to celebrate with cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and fight back against cancer,” she said.
“The Cranbourne-Narre Relay For Life will be an inspirational, empowering and moving experience with family and friends.
“It will also be an opportunity to raise money for Cancer Council Victoria’s life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and support services, which are available to Victorians in every region.”
Ms Ryan said local volunteers would be integral to the success of the event.
“We’re always looking for volunteers to join our organising committee, for local supporters to rally friends and family to join relay teams and for local businesses to provide support through sponsorships or donations,” she said.
“We have a diverse range of opportunities at relay, and our only requirement is that you’re passionate about making a difference.”
Tickets for the girls night out are $60 which includes entry, race book, dinner and entertainment.
The first 200 bookings will get a discounted price of $50.
