Business group launched

THE 22,000 businesses in the Casey and Cardinia shires will receive extra support with the formation of the Casey Cardinia Business Group.
The official launch of this group will be on Thursday 9 May and all businesses are invited to attend.
City of Casey mayor Amanda Stapledon said ‘economic development was one of the City of Casey’s key priorities.’
Cr Stapledon emphasised the focus on ‘growing existing businesses and attracting new ones’, decreasing the travel time to work, giving individuals more time with their families, plus the importance of ensuring the ‘prosperity of shops, businesses and commercial activities’.
“With so many businesses operating in this area, council is committed to understanding how to respond to their needs and ensure they are able to continually innovate and thrive,” Cr Stapledon said.
She also discussed the importance of a group such as the Casey Cardinia Business Group, including its potential to act as a basis for relationships between businesses, and its ability to increase the appeal of beginning a business in the area.
The City of Casey and Cardinia Shire will work with businesses to increase their support network, including combined training workshops, as well as a business breakfast series.
Cardinia Shire mayor Brett Owen also commended the new group, stating it would “give businesses a chance to raise their profile and have a voice on a regional scale”.
All businesses in the Casey and Cardinia areas are eligible for membership to this group, with benefits varying between the 3-star and 5-star membership levels.
Members receive either free or discounted tickets to four Casey Cardinia Business Breakfasts each year, free or discounted access to all council-run training workshops, invites to exclusive network evenings, and can promote their business for free on the soon to be launched Casey-Cardinia region website, and Facebook page.
Local businesses are invited to attend the launch of the Casey Cardinia Business Group.
The launch is on Thursday 9 May from 6.30pm at Monash University Foyer, 100 Clyde Road, Berwick.
The City of Casey was pleased to receive a $20,000 grant through the Victorian Government’s Streetlife program which will be used to provide training and support for members.
