Parade stands out

THE Yakkerboo committee couldn’t have wished for a better day for the annual Yakkerboo Festival on the weekend.
President of the organising committee Michael Porter said Main Street, Station Street and Bourke Park were all packed with families and the free rides were a particular treat.
“Well, we all saw the end result, you couldn’t wish for a better day,” he said.
Many familiar faces, young and old, dressed up for the Australiana theme.
“The cavalcade of unique vehicles had the most entries in all the years the current committee have been doing Yakkerboo,” Mr Porter said.
“I think the parade was the best I’ve ever seen with three bands and so many great floats.
“Well done to everyone that entered.”
This year’s raffle had a record number of prizes which meant more tickets were sold, 30 per cent more than last year.
All funds raised support the festival.
Mr Porter said the committee were always looking for more volunteers and if anyone wanted to get on board they could call him at work on 5941 9606.
