WITHIN a month, Pakenham-based MP Edward O’Donohue has held three different positions in state parliament.
On Tuesday night, Premier Denise Napthine announced the promotion of Mr O’Donohue to Minister for Liquor and Gaming Regulation, Minister for Corrections and Minister for Crime Prevention.
The new appointment followed the resignation of Andrew McIntosh, Member for Kew, from the position.
“It’s a great privilege and responsibility, and I am looking forward to the challenges,” Mr O’Donohue said.
“Subject to being sworn in by the Governor, I am grateful for the responsibility and opportunity that the Premier has given me, and I also look forward to continuing to being an active representative of the Eastern Victoria Region.
”Mr O’Donohue is expected to be sworn into the position early next week when the Governor returns from overseas.
Mr McIntosh resigned on Tuesday following claims he had leaked information to the media through his role on the Parliament’s Privileges Committee.
Mr O’Donohue previously held the role of Parliamentary Secretary for Transport, but was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier in March in the reshuffle following the resignation of former Premier Ted Baillieu.
He will remain the member for Eastern Victoria Region.
Attorney-General Robert Clark will be given responsibility of the anti-corruption committee and Mr McIntosh’s other integrity legislation obligations.
