Selfies up for top prize

By BRIDGET SCOTT

GONE are the days when clothing items and hairstyles set fashions trends – now it’s a new craze in the photo world.
The new phenomenon ‘selfies’ has taken over all social media sites with thousands being shared worldwide every day.
A selfie is a picture of oneself capturing either all or part of one’s body with the intention to show the world your style and looks.
Westfield has noticed the dominant fashion trend, and to celebrate the new craze the organisation has launched a competition.
Style Selfies invites all Australians to showcase their best style selfie for their chance to win a luxury trip to the fashion capital, Paris.
The trip for two includes return business class flights, five nights accommodation and $5000 worth of spending money.
Resident Stylist at Westfield Fountain Gate Jo Blankfield, said it was a great way for everyone to share their style and celebrate the new trend.
“Shoppers and stylists are sharing updates,” she said.
“For us, it’s embracing that and getting customers involved in showing us our own style.”
Ms Blankfield mentioned that in this era the trend is uniqueness.
“These days, it’s about individual style – who you are and what you like.”
Ms Blankfield encouraged everyone to remember that a selfie is a photo taken of yourself, and anyone is eligible to enter.
“It’s a case of anyone being able to enter,” she said.
“Everyone takes selfies and it is something that anyone can do.”
