Lakeside link improves access

By DANIELLE GALVIN

THE opening of the Henry Road extension which joins Cardinia Road and McGregor Road has been touted as the real Pakenham bypass.
On Wednesday morning, Eden Brook developer Devine unveiled the 400-metre extension to link Lakeside with Heritage Springs alongside Cardinia Shire councillors and staff.
Mayor Brett Owen said the extension provided a “vital, essential link” for Pakenham
“I grew up in this area – Henry Road used to be a dirt road,” he said. “It looks very different now.”
The road was closed off to make way for the Pakenham Bypass.
Cr Graeme Moore said the opening signalled a “relive” of the road.
After the traditional ribbon cutting, the road was opened to traffic. Residents Tracy Martin and Jana Opalic were the first ones to travel down the road.
“This is a blessing – a time saver,” Ms Martin said.
Cr Collin Ross said the link was the “real Pakenham bypass.”
Devine Victoria General Manager Neil Anderson said Eden Brook was launched in 2009 and continues to be one of the developer’s most popular communities.
“Linking both parts of Henry Road, the new extension will provide continuous access to Cardinia Road and will connect the community to the new Cardinia Road station, easy access to the freeway, childcare and nearby shopping,” he said.
“Traffic flow will be greatly improved, helping reduce travel time in and out of the community.”
Mr Anderson said Eden Brook is home to 1300 residents.
“With demand for home and land still so high, we have decided to open another community in Pakenham called Lakeland,” he said.
“Located adjacent to Eden Brook, it will come onto the market in the next financial year.”
