Honing self-defence skills

AN ENDEAVOUR Hills woman will be giving ladies the skills they need to defend themselves in violent situations.
A free self-defence class for women will be held in May by martial arts expert Tricia Clark.
Ms Clarke has run successful self-defence forums for years, training shift workers, travellers, nurses, students and women recovering from crime.
She said it was important that women knew how to defend themselves during an attack.
“The practical self-defence sessions will help women to be able to better deal with any situation that arises,” Ms Clarke said.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan announced the free class last week.
He said Ms Clarke’s work had been invaluable to many women in the community over the years.
“This is a great opportunity for local women to learn safety tips and practical self-defence,” Mr Donnellan said.
“Ms Clarke has been running these practical self-defence forums for women for years, and it’s great to see her back providing this great service.”
The forum is designed specifically for women. Attendees are free to bring a friend or family member along as long as they are also women.
The first self-defence forum is to be held on Thursday 16 May between 7pm and 9pm at the Main Hall of Maramba Primary School, Narre Warren.
Places are strictly limited and the first forum is sure to book out bookings are necessary. Book by calling Luke Donnellan MP on 9706 0566.
