Grants deadline draws near

APPLICATIONS for the Volunteer Grants 2013 close next week.
Volunteer Grants 2013 funding will help local organisations meet the changing needs of community’s volunteers.
The Australian Government has invested $16 million in the grants as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting and encouraging volunteering. These grants aim to support the work of local community volunteers and recognise the crucial role of volunteer organisations for helping to build a stronger and more resilient local community.
This week, Holt MP Anthony Byrne met with the Endeavour Hills sporting club president Charles Geriesi and members Abraham Jaber and Ravi Prakash to promote the grants.
“This is a great initiative that enables local community groups to apply for up to $5000 in funding,” Mr Byrne said.
“This funding can assist to purchase small equipment items, and contribute to the reimbursement of volunteers’ fuel costs incurred while carrying out their volunteering work, and to assist with transport costs incurred by volunteers with a disability who are unable to drive.”
Applications for Volunteer Grants 2013 will close on Wednesday 24 April 2013 at 5 pm AEST.
Anyone needing an application can contact Anthony Byrne office on 9796 7533.
