A STATE-of-the-art medical complex has opened its doors in Pakenham.
Lakeside Square Medical Centre has been open since 12 March but Cardinia Shire Mayor Brett Owen stopped by on Monday to officially cut the ribbon.
The doctors have all relocated from Berwick Lodge Medical Clinic.
Centre business manager Jennie Gysberts said the new site offered more opportunities for the clinic and its clients.
“We have outgrown the building and wanted to expand,” she said.
“The main aim to come here was to build a mini-health environment with extra doctors and longer hours.”
With five female and one male doctor, it is a predominantly female clinic so it can also specialists in women’s health.
The centre will also include a chemist, dentist, audiologist, physiotherapist, psychologist and there are opportunities for specialist consultants to join the team.
“We have three specialists lined up to come in,” Ms Gysberts said.
“Specialists need to come out this way and this provides an opportunity for specialists to come to the area.”
Ms Gysberts said many existing clients had been positive about the move.
The existing associate doctors, Dr Sally McDonald, Dr Alexa Fredericks and Dr Jenny Watt, first worked together in Upper Beaconsfield in 1985 before opening the Berwick clinic in 1997.
