The magic hamper

A PAKENHAM volunteer is disheartened and disappointed after a mysterious gift for Christmas volunteers went missing.
Susan Johns, co-ordinator of the Cardinia Community Christmas, would like to know who left this massive mystery hamper addressed to “Sue and all volunteers” which she only discovered after unlocking the Pakenham Hall on Christmas morning.
“I was so taken back – it was so wonderful,” she said.
But when she returned the next day to share the goods among the volunteers, the kitchen was empty.
“I had forgotten about it until the next day,” she said.
“It is such a shock that someone has done this and (then) it has gone to someone selfish.”
Ms Johns has asked many people involved in the day if they knew who sent the hamper.
“I have asked everyone I know who would have sent it.
“It was in the locked hall so they had to have had a key,” she said.
“It was for the volunteers who gave their all and they are a wonderful group to give their time.
“It is so frustrating and annoying that no one has taken responsibility.
“Why would anyone do this to the volunteers?”
Ms Johns said she holds no grudges for the person who took the hamper – she only wishes to know who it was and who the mystery hamper was in fact from.
“Whoever has taken it should be honest,” she said.
“It is the unknowing that is disheartening.”
Anyone with information about the hamper can email Susan at cardinia.christmas2000@y7mail.com.
