Mate mourned

FRIENDS are devastated by the bashing murder of an Endeavour Hills man on the weekend.
Shao Ging Chen – known as Victor, was found by his father with substantial injuries at a Churchill Park Drive residence shortly before 11am on Saturday.
Mr Ging Chen, 41, who had worked all over the City of Casey with his plastering business, has been described as a great friend and dedicated worker by his neighbor and former employer Alex Trifonov.
Mr Trifonov employed Mr Chen for 19 years, before Mr Chen took over his business about six years ago.
“It is very bad. It is a big shock for everybody,” Mr Trifonov said.
“In the morning I look over (to his yard) and there is no Victor, at night there is no Victor. It’s very sad.”
Mr Trifonov said Mr Chen was married with two young children and had many friends in the area.
“We went on family trips together,” Mr Trifonov said.
“He had lots of friends and we would all get together. Everyone would be talking and joking. He was very friendly.”
Mr Trifonov said it was an anxious wait for family and friends to find out the circumstances surrounding the murder.
Police believe Mr Chen was assaulted by an unknown offender who was possibly armed.
Metropolitan media reported that Mr Chen had moved into a house in Berwick, but still owned the house in Endeavour Hills where he was found dead.
The reports quoted Detective Inspector John Potter as saying Mr Chen had been in police custody the day before he died.
Mr Chen’s 36-year-old wife was assisting police with their inquiries, but she was not being treated as a suspect.
Det Insp Potter said there were no signs of forced entry. A weapon could have been used in the attack, but police had not recovered one.
