A GROUP of youths and young adults have lent a helping hand to get the Berwick Secondary College grounds in top condition before it re-opens to students.
Berwick and Nazaret Baptist Church Youth Minister Wally Starchenko said about 15 people aged about 13 to 25 turned up at the school to help the groundskeepers on Wednesday.
“We wanted to help out the local community and we decided to help out at the school,” Mr Starchenko said.
The act of kindness was part of a Victorian Baptist Youth Ministry initiative called Urban Summer.
“There are a number of groups from different churches helping out the same week,” Mr Starchenko said.
“Our group was pretty excited as it was the first year we did something like this in the local area, and hopefully it is something we can do every year.”
