FAMILY, friends and former team-mates of the late Steve Vivian gathered at the Pakenham Cricket Club on Saturday for the playing of the Steve Vivian Memorial Shield.
The annual match played between Pakenham and Devon Meadows is played in honour of the former champion at both clubs.
Vivian was a premiership player at Devon Meadows and a premiership coach at Pakenham where he was also voted the competition’s A Grade Player of the Year for the 1982/83 season.
The match is usually played between the club’s senior teams but with Pakenham in Premier Division and the Panthers in District Division it was left to the B Grade boys to battle it out for the shield.
Devon Meadows were victorious on Saturday with captain Corey Leslie a proud recipient of the shield.
