Squad cheer at skills fusion

By Emma Sun
THE Endeavour Fusion Cheeleading Squad are a team to watch out for.
They recently came back after competing at the AASCF Nationals held at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, which saw them test their skills against about 3000 other athletes.
The girls, who train at the Endeavour Hills Leisure Centre, received numerous awards, including second places in Teen Pom and Senior Level 3 All Girl Stunt, and third places in Teen Level 3 All Girl Cheer and Teen Level 3 AG Stunt.
They also saw success at the regional and state competition, taking out the Cheer section and scoring the highest in Level 3.
Cheerleading coach Briegh Nish said the team have worked on the routines all year.
“The girls train four hours a week on stunting, tumbling, dance and routines and as coach, I couldn’t be more proud or pleased with the results,” she said.
“The girls have only been competitive for two seasons now and they train hard and focus well. They are such a pleasure to coach.”
Second coach Laura Cavarra said the group overcame many obstacles to achieve their high results.
“For the AASCF Nationals we overcame a few injuries along the way, including a suspected food poisoning the morning of cheer.
“Plus we had to juggle the stresses of year 12 exams which affected four of the girls.”
The team will now focus on learning new skills to do even better at nationals.
