Punters under close police surveillance

PAKENHAM police have warned punters to be on their best behaviour on Oak’s Day as they step up their focus on anti-social behaviour and drink driving.
Oak’s Day is one of the most popular race days of the year at the Pakenham Racecourse, with thousands of racegoers set to attend.
Cardinia PSA Inspector Chris Major said Pakenham police would set up a booze bus, random breath testing sites, and have 10 additional police tasked to address public order issues at the event and also after the event checking the licensed premises around the town as part of their road and public safety initiatives.
“Anti-social behaviour, drunkenness and drink driving will be our main policing focus,” Insp Major said.
“Through our presence and initiatives, we sincerely hope that the event can be incident-free and that everyone attending enjoys the day and gets home safely.”
