CASEY residents are encouraged to buy their food at events from mobile food vendors who display the Casey Healthy Choice Award signs.
Casey’s Healthy Choice Award provides recognition to food vendors who have healthy choices at community events and assist people attending events to select healthier options.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes said the city was committed to improving the health and well-being of the community.
“With a growing interest in healthy eating, people are increasingly looking to purchase food without a high fat, salt or sugar content.
“Casey’s Healthy Choice Awards help to make these alternatives easily identifiable and more accessible,” Cr Balmes said.
“I encourage people to keep an eye out for the Casey Healthy Choice Awards sign, which will assist people to easily identify the good choice from the not-so-good!”
Mobile food vendors are encouraged to apply to be included in the program. Successful vendors will have their healthy choices analysed by a nutritionist and will receive a Casey Healthy Choice Award sign to display.
For further information, or to view a list of awardees, visit the council’s website at www.casey.vic.gov.au/healthpromotion or contact City of Casey Customer Service on 9705 5200.
