PAKENHAM’S entrances are set to get a spruce up – with councillors using their leftover funds to beautify gateways to the town.
Cardinia Shire mayor George Blenkhorn and Councillor Collin Ross are using their leftover ward funds, $2000 and $1000 respectively, to give the roundabout at Bald Hill Road and Racecourse Road a facelift. “As extremely proud Pakenham residents we believe towns should reflect the great places they are,” Cr Ross said.
“One thing that is disappointing is that the entrances to Pakenham are very run down and don’t promote the area as a beautiful place to be in – many estates look great but, unfortunately, the entrances are not kept up to these great standards.”
He said the reason for the lacklustre entrances of Pakenham was to do with VicRoads rosters, who would service an area as scheduled, which often wasn’t often enough.
“George and I decided we can afford to plant a garden in the middle of the roundabout,” he said.
“It still needs VicRoads approval – but we’ll put the money aside,” he said.
It’s round about time to look nice
