DIY climate change

RESIDENTS in Casey are encouraged to set up their own groups to tackle climate change.
People can take action by supporting the introduction of local transition town initiatives.
The City of Casey is encouraging residents, with the support of council, to set up their own transition groups within the municipality to tackle a range of projects, which may include organising local food swaps, car share schemes or community gardens for food growing.
“Hundreds of communities all over the world are responding to the impacts of climate change and peak oil by setting up transition town initiatives, which help the community to work together to tackle the impacts of climate change, build awareness of sustainable living practices and develop local ecological resilience,” Casey mayor Shar Balmes said.
