Labor claims gas mess forgotten – No funding has been allocated for the Brookland Greens remediation in the State Budget. 38023

LOCAL Labor MPs say the State Government budget has “failed to deliver for Casey families.”
The budget, handed down on Wednesday, will include $1 million to conduct planning and development work in support of an expansion at Casey Hospital, more than $23 million to duplicate Clyde Road from High Street to Kangan Drive, and funding for a number of education purposes.
Addition car parking spaces at Merinda Park and Narre Warren Stations will be funded, as well as $500,000 for the Casey Comets Football Club in Cranbourne.
Despite the funding, Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley, Cranbourne MP Jude Perera and Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said the area was “forgotten”.
Mr Perera said it was “embarrassing” that there was no funding allocated for the Stevensons Road Landfill remediation, despite $24 million being promised by the Liberal Party during the election campaign.
There was also no money allocated for the funding of the construction of Cranbourne East Railway Station, the duplication of Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road and no funding for the Cranbourne Racing Complex.
“The residents of Cranbourne and its surrounds have clearly been forgotten,” Mr Perera said.
Ms Graley said she was disappointed that there was no specific line item in the budget papers that states that Casey Council will receive $24 million for remediation works on the Brookland Greens methane mess.
“The Baillieu Government must immediately come clean on where the money is for the Stevensons Road Landfill,” she said.
Mr Donnellan said the budget failed to fund the promised soccer pavilion and netball courts at Gleneagles Secondary College in Endeavour Hills, as well as the duplication for the Cranbourne East railway line, the grade separation for Clyde Road, and only limited funding for car parks at Narre Warre Station.
